Hein Lottering – Biography
I am a drama practitioner, educator, and producer with a BA in Drama and a Higher Diploma in Speech and Drama from the University of Cape Town, as well as a Masterclass qualification in Feature Film Script Development through the European Audio-Visual Entrepreneurs (EAVE) program.
For over two decades, I have worked across the African continent, using the power of storytelling in film and television to support health and education initiatives. I was a producer on the acclaimed and award-winning Soul City and Soul Buddyz television series, which were broadcast in nine Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries.
I have lectured in script writing, drama, and visual literacy, and served as Head of Film and Television Studies at CityVarsity Johannesburg from 2014 to 2018. I also produced the Arts Alive documentary series, showcasing African performers who have made their mark on the international stage.
